About Bonesdale

What is Bonesdale?

Bonesdale is a leftist micronation and online community established in 2022 for socialists, creatives, queers, neurodivergents, and also anyone else who wants to become a citizen!

What is a micronation?

A micronation is a group of individuals who have declared themselves independent from the nation(s) they currently reside in. Whether for serious purposes, ranging from being internationally recognized to being a political movement, or fun purposes like building a community and making friends. Bonesdale is a mix of both, and we wish to ally with and build relationships with both.

Bonesdale is a nation, specifically a micronation. We have no legal land, but halfheartedly claim the state of Montana as ours. More than being a nation, Bonesdale is a community. A community of people working together to make a truly amazing community. Every citizen, every staff member, all the way up to all four owners are pieces working together to build our nation. Bonesdale prides itself on its acceptance, diversity, community, and sense of companionship you can only get in a place like this.

Our Government

Bonesdale is a democracy. It is led by an elected President and Vice President, with staff and higher staff acting as legislators. Higher staff have more power as well as the ability to vote to remove another staff member’s title. The President and Vice President also have votes in all legislative actions, with the President’s vote holding twice the power. A majority must be reached to pass any legislation. Elections are held every year from November 2nd-9th with the President and Vice President sworn in on the 24th of November. New staff can be appointed via the President, a staff vote, or a myriad of other ways. The only clear and specific process is applying for staff. The number of staff is indirectly tied to the amount of citizens of Bonesdale. Staff are also responsible for enforcing laws.
